The new cutting edge gadget from Google has created a buzz in electronics and wireless streaming. Here at Sunrise, we got a little distracted by the box it comes in. Perfect for this size gadget with all of the capabilities of wireless streaming, the new Google Chromecast is packaged in a turned edge box with custom graphics and digital print. A hinged lid opens the box to reveal the device that everyone is anxious to employ in their own home and office entertainment systems. Holding the Chromecast inside is a custom fitted, thermoformed plastic tray that fits in the square box. Even though we did not do this packaging project, we have done quite a few boxes and other turned edge projects that hold USB flash drives– very similar in size and shape to this one.

This box is a student designed project that was featured on Packaging of the World. While not many companies and retailers go out of their way for specialty Thanksgiving packaging solutions, looking at different kits and gift collections ahead of time can save you effort and research in future shopping endeavors. This kit is a hypothetical welcome kit inspired by old time fashion and print. The gift set is complete with perfume, nail polish, and other effects. The kit shown here is inspiration not only for shoppers, but for retailers and marketing companies putting together a holiday kit. A great way to extend a company’s brand and get quality exposure is to thank their clients and show them what you are capable of.

This box packaging selection is for a company called TGTL- Think Global Taste Local. The organization is a food hunting company whose goal is to bring the best products from all over the globe to create new food experiences and introduce new, exotic flavors. The design of the product is modern and representative of the brand and their mission. The box is considered a gift box, adorned with a signature foil stamp and picture from the country of origin. The wrap on this turned edge setup box pulls out all the stops for customization, using high quality textured paper, gold foil stamp, digital print, and a formed insert to boot. Each unique package is tailored to the product it holds and experience it brings. View the other items in the collection at the dieline!

This package has got to be one of my favorite boxes we have seen from the dieline- and that’s not just because it holds scotch. The Macallan Single Malt Scotch Whisky and the Masters of Photography Series come together in this intricate box set with a classic design and cool concept. Included in the set is a photograph from Elliot Erwitt to capture the spirit of Scotland, the whisky’s country of origin. The design my seem simple on the outside, but the concept is clever and very well executed. Open up the hinged, turned edge box that is designed to look like a classic book (I think of an encyclopedia) and find a photograph and book inside. Once you open the book- that’s where you find the pièce de résistance. The luxury packaging set for the classic whisky has all complimentary elements.

This intricate box is part of a packaging collection student project that is focused on a film director of their choosing and dedicated to a subsequent film festival. The director featured in this project was Stanley Donen: Singin’ in the Raing, On the Town. The task for the student was to create and design advertisements, tickets, a collector’s DVD package, booklet, and soundtrack. The custom box below holds the soundtrack, all on vinyl albums. It is a hard cover, turned edge box hinged with a ribbon closure as well as internal compartments keeping the vinyl record safe from scratching and the soundtrack booklet displayed. The rest of this film festival collection also features other amazing turned edge packaging solutions, check them out at Packaging of the World.

Happy Halloween! It is only appropriate on Halloween that we feature the most popular box of the day- the orange Unicef donation box. Trick or treat for Unicef gets kids involved in making donations, and makes it easy for the rest of us to give to the cause. Here are a few examples of how this famous box has changed through the years. And when trick or treaters have the little orange box- throw some change into it and make a difference!

Luxury packaging and custom boxes go hand in hand. For high-end luxury products, consumers are spending a pretty penny and the product they purchase must live up to the price. That is why detailed and durable packaging is imperative for luxury items. Custom turned edge boxes are almost always the best option for quality custom boxes. The very nature of turned edge manufacturing allows the brand, retailer, and graphic designer complete freedom to create the image for the box. Usually a textured wrap, faux leather, anything really can grace the cover of a custom box. These retailers know that custom is the way to go, after all, exclusivity is part of what the shopper pays for! Whether packaging wine, jewelry, perfume or even keys to a yacht, custom hard cover boxes always portray a luxurious appeal.

Well, the week is starting to wind down but not yet! That’s why I chose to feature this video of our Starbucks coffee sales kit as a little pick-me-up! This custom box is something we are very proud of as Sunrise Packaging. The exterior is completely turned edge- which made it possible for us to accessorize the wrap with cool custom features like silk screen print. A hinged opening at the front creates the illusion of an unveiling of sorts; like the recipient is opening the door to a collection of coffees and products that will add value to their store and services. Precisely die-cut foam inserts hold fragile items securely, keeping the French press and espresso cups safe from the wear and tear of transportation and repetitive use. Enjoy this little video of a well planned, designed, and executed sales kit- contact Sunrise Packaging if a branded sales kit is just what you need to boost your business!
